Basic yellow cake
We all love to munch that delicious yellow cake with our tea or coffee in the evening. But did you know that it is also extremely easy to prepare it too? Here is the recipe that you must try and enjoy at your home.
- 2 1/3 cups of flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon levelled baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1 1/2 cups of white sugar
- 1 cup of milk at room temperature
- 1/2 cup shortening or unsalted butter
- And 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Sift all the dry ingredients together, which includes, flour, salt, baking powder and sugar. In the same bowl add the shortening or butter in the bowl and turn on the beater until it becomes crumbly. Now add the eggs and beat. Add in the vanilla and milk and beat to mix together. Make sure you include the scrapings from the sides. Pour the batter in the centre of a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and place it in the centre of the oven which is preheated at 175°C. Bake for 25 – 30 minutes, after which you will check for doneness by inserting a skewer in the centre of the cake. Take out and cool on wire rack.
