Easter french toast casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 (10 oz) French bread, cut into 1 inch cubers (10 cups)
  • 8 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 tsp salt (optional)
  • Topping
  • 2 tbsp butter, cubed
  • 3 tbsp, ground cinnamon
  • Maple syrup (optional) or honey (optional)
  • Cool whip (optional)
  • Fruit, for topping (optional)

Preparation:

In a grated 13x9x2 pan place bread cubes. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread. Cover place in refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight. Take out from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Preheat over to 350F. Sprinkle with butter. Add together sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over the top. Cover and cook for 45 to 50 minutes or until a knife inserted comes out clean. Let stand 5 minutes. Top serving with fruit and cool whip. Serve with syrup.
